Make a Difference Day is celebrated annually on the fourth Saturday of October (on October 28, 2023). If you have ever wondered if your actions can make a difference, the answer is yes. And if you have wondered where to start, the answer is Make a Difference Day. We come together to volunteer, raise funds, offer support, and learn about the most urgent needs of our society.

Make a Difference Day was created in 1992 to offer community support and encourage volunteerism across the country. Since its inception, millions of people have united in the common mission to improve the lives of others and it is the largest day of community service in the country and is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors.

Making a difference can come in many forms, so this day is wide open for participation! Here are some ideas from the DEI team to get started:

· Volunteer in your community.

· Be a mentor. Help a youth or another professional to gain new skills.

· Make a donation to a charity with meaning to you.

· Say a kind word of support to someone who is struggling.

· Put your skills to work. Sometimes our hobbies can bring joy to others in ways we least expect it.

Looking for a way to observe Make A Difference Day? Come volunteer at The Brick Companies Foundation Zombie Dash 5k on October 29th in Edgewater.
