TBC Hive Update

Check out the latest update on our TBC Beehive from our beekeeper Solomon. The TBC Beehive is located at our commercial office building Lakefront in Gaithersburg.

"Thank goodness the weather is finally cooling down. Around this time, we will begin to see the queen slow down in laying eggs. This is the mixture of shorter days, cooler weather, and scarcity of nectar. The population begins to dwindle as there is no need for an excessive amount of bees for foraging. However, one tactic beekeepers apply is to feed syrup to a hive. Not only does this boost the food source for the hive, but it also boosts the queen's egg-laying capacity. This is to make sure we enter late fall and winter with a strong hive, increasing the survival rate of the hive. During my visit, I took a behind-the-scenes photo of what my office space looks like every day. Definitely not the typical cubicle, but it is a space where a lot of work is done!"
