As we spring forward this Sunday for Daylight Saving Time, it's the perfect moment to embrace new habits that promise a night of deep, rejuvenating sleep. The transition not only marks a change in time but also an opportunity to reset our sleep routines for the better. The TBC Wellness Team brings you insightful tips to ensure your nights are restful and your days are vibrant and energetic.

Don’t sleep in!

An occasional late night is fine but just don’t sleep in.  Consistent sleep and wake times are more super important.  Perhaps MORE important than how long we are conked out.  Get up and get some natural light

Create a relaxing bedtime routine.

Pre-sleep rituals such as reading a book, taking a warm bath or practicing relaxation techniques will help you get a restful night’s sleep

Optimize your environment

Comfy bed, nice pillows, a cool bedroom that is dark and quiet

Avoid electronics!

Phones, tablets, and computers for at least an hour before bedtime.  The blue light interferes with the production of your sleep hormone Melatonin

Mind your diet!

Avoid heavy meals, caffeine, and alcohol close to bedtime.

Regular Exercise

Promote physical activity.  It contributes to better sleep.  But not right before bedtime.

Manage Stress

Practice stress-reducing techniques:  deep breathing, mindfulness, and journaling to help calm your mind before you nod off.
