The TBC DEI team is excited to share some fun facts about Mes nacional de la herencia hispana – National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. The 30-day period includes many important dates in the Hispanic community:

  • September 15: Anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua,

  • September 16: Mexico commemorates their independence,

  • September 18: Chile celebrates its independence, and

  • October 9: Columbus Day or Dia de la Raza.

Hispanic Americans, Latinos, Latinas, and Latinx-identifying people are the largest minority group (at more than 60 million) in the United States. Generations of Hispanic Americans have consistently helped make our country strong and prosperous.
